Numerous times either during an investigation or after a lecture, I'll hear the same old broken record from skeptics from time to time saying UFOs or extraterrestrials don't exist! There's no proof! There's no explanation! And they always use the principle of Occam's Razor for their defense.
Skeptics claim the rule of Occam's Razor states: The simplest explanation is the most correct one.
Well they either didn't study philosophy or were asleep during the class, because that can't be further from the truth.
Occam's Razor is not a clear-cut theory and should not be used as one. William of Ockham was a very complex individual and many people today still argue about what he said or didn't say.
So what is Occam's Razor?
William of Ockham (1287-1349) was an English Franciscan Friar well-known at that time as a Roman Catholic philosopher. He was born in the village of Ockham in the English county of Surrey. He is well-known today for his methodological principle known as " Ockham's Razor, or Occam's Razor".
Occam's Razor: This is the principle of parsimony. It suggests when faced with multiple theories or hypotheses, the one that has the least assumptions should be looked at first.
That doesn't mean the hypotheses with the least assumptions is the correct one, it means that would be a good place to start.
His principle also states, "Don't multiply entities beyond necessity", which could point to individuals on both sides of the Occam's Razor's teeter totter. One using his principle in the 'for" argument, while one is using it in the "against" argument.
Let me explain.
In the realm of UFOlogy let's look at Alien abductions, something my friend Stan Romanek knows a lot about. Skeptics will claim Occam's Razor supports that aliens are not the most plausible explanation for people claiming to have been abducted, which would say Stan and thousands of others who have had abduction experiences actually experienced sleep paralysis or just plain lied. But UFO investigators as myself could say, Occam's Razor is in favor of the abductee's testimony once you include the biological evidence associated with their cases.
Einstein once stated: "Make everything as simple as possible but not simpler".
Making assumptions simpler could lead you in the wrong direction. Ask any homicide detective if this isn't true.
Example: A man who looks like President Obama has been captured on a video surveillance camera robbing a bank. The simplest explanation is, "Our president just robbed a bank!" True this could be a way his administration is helping to eliminate our national deficit, but an intelligent explanation would assume it wasn't our president, but a criminal dressed up like him.
See Einstein is correct, "simpler" is not the answer.
Back to Occam's Razor.
So if we use Occam's Razor to explain life on this planet, the religious fundamentalist will use it in their favor claiming intelligent creation is the answer, but the evolutionists will use it in their favor claiming evolution is.
Who's right and who's wrong? They both used Occam's Razor in their favor based on their beliefs if it be religion or science.
In my investigations I'll use Occam's Razor to start my investigation by looking at the obvious aspects of the investigation first, then eliminating them based on evidence accumulated or based on the lack of evidence accumulated.
Example: Thousands of Animal Mutilations have occurred in the USA and since the very first media reported case in 1967 here in Colorado, no one has been caught, tried and convicted for these animal cruelty crimes. The principle of Occam's Razor has me look for human evidence first which could cause the mutilation, because that would be the most easiest to explain. When human evidence cannot be found, then I jump into the next phase looking for animal predator evidence, which again would be the second easiest to explain. When there is a lack of animal predator evidence, then I have to look for other types of evidence which is not so common or easily explained.
So if you look at the principle of Occam's Razor by itself when starting an investigation, it has you look for the most common or explainable evidence first, but does not claim the simplest explanation is always the correct one.
So skeptics please use another avenue other than Occam's Razor for your defense, because you're losing that battle. If you persist, then I'll be forced to throw at you, Walter Chatton's "Anti-razor" theory which will probably confuse you even more.
Hint: Walter Chatton (1290-1343) was an English theologian and philosopher who generally debated William of Ockham.
To sum up this blog, "Skeptics it's time to put-to-bed your Occam's Razor's defense, please try another avenue, one that is a little more challenging for me; But if you still want to persist with the "Razor", let me suggest, Gillette."

Me and my two boys were throwing the football around at our neighborhood park and noticed a sphere like object hovering stationary up in the air. I began looking at it really closely because it kind of resembled a weather balloon so i was waiting for it to float away BUT it never did. About 10 minutes later we noticed that it finally moved from its location overhead towards the west or south west area. From there we continued throwing the football around and then noticed that it was no longer a spherical shape but looked more like a "balloon that has just popped". Just then a ball of light came out of the object (my son said that the ball of light circled the object once) and hovered next to it - finally the first object then itself became a ball of light similar to the one it let out. Now both objects resembled two distant stars in the sky. They gradually got further and further away (heading west/south west) until we could no longer view them.

A friend of mine has been actively searching to get Bigfoot footage after seeing the amimal years ago. He told me that he and his son recorded a very long call on 09/01/2012. He has added this call to the many others he has recorded into his collection along with physical evidence of the amimal. I have been showing him some of the orbs I have taken pictures of with my camera. My camers has an IR. My husband and I were going home at dusk and noticed these black trails in the sky above us. We determined that this was a swarm that was neither bees nor locusts. I thought we should take pictures given what my friend just recently recorded and because of seeing this unusual swarm. For some reason I thought I should take a piture from behind our truck that was pulled over to the side of the road. I caught a bright white beam that seemed to be going through an orb at the top of the picture. The beam landed in back of some tall trees. The beam had many orbs in it. I wondered if the orbs were energy pulses. The insects seemed to be migrating their way toward the orb and surrounding it but not penetrating it. I didn't know what I captured until I enlarged the picture on my monitor. I asked myself what would motivate insects, at this time of day, to swarm like this. Could it be what was captured on camera? What I have found out so far is: It is said that insets senses vary from mammals, and one of the most important traits they have is their ability to perceive heat. Insects, especially blood drinkers, like mosquitoes, use heat detection as a means of hunting prey, focusing in on big heat sources.

My great grandmother was a little girl when she saw the UFO in 1946. It was around 3:00 in the afternoon when she had heard the towns people yelling and people pointing at some buildings. She was surprised to see a bright white light above a car repair shop. She searched around to see if it was a reflection or someone with a flashlight but couldn't find any explanation for it. What she described as a glowing orb suddenly began to move slowly over some other buildings. It would hover really slow and then dart towards the ground at incredible speeds then return to hovering. I do have a number of reports from serviceman on the UFO incidents from Loring. In October of 1975 I was working at Loring in the WSA. I know of nothing first hand - if you are still interested I would be glad to pass on what I can remember that was second hand.Additional Information:Brian, that was a very long time ago and my memory of what happened is far from clear. I was an NCO assigned to SRAM maintenance in the Integrated Maintenance Facility in the Weapons Storage Area. I lived in Base House at Presque Isle (this was actually a former Air Force Facility that they had retained the housing). There were three of us (from Presque Isle) that car pooled together, one named (Ben) who worked in the same building as I and the other (whose name I can't recall) worked in a building adjacent to the weapon storage area. I believe it was some sort of logistic function. The weapons storage area was very remote from the rest of the base and the logistic group was the only other group near the weapons storage area. As I recall the actual weapon storage area we used was a small section of a much larger storage area. The part we didn't use was abandoned and we were sectioned off by a separate fence. There were also a few abandoned buildings within the weapon storage area that were also abandoned and separately fenced off. One in particular comes to mind that was completely sealed, no windows and the door welded shut. I believe their were numerous other abandoned buildings near the older abandoned part of the weapons storage area. At any rate as I recall the incidents (the visits from the UFO) occurred over a few nights. I believe I became aware of these from our car pooler who worked in logistics. He seemed to be aware of more of what was going on. I don't believe he was assigned to the 42nd munitions maintenance as we normally had limited contact with the rest of the base although most of the personnel lived on base. On the morning of the last/most significant visit I probably was with the early group at the guard gate that walked up to our facility, possibly I may have been the one who stated that their must of been another UFO. I believe the car pooler from the logistics' group may have told us about the earlier events and at some point indicated that it was a helicopter (of course he had not seen it and was only telling us what he had been told). I can recall the discussions about the security police asking to shoot at it and being told not to despite the UFO about sitting on one of the weapons storage structures (Igloo). I also recall the commanding officer (I don't recall if it was the base commander or munitions squadron commander) coming to the weapons storage area while the UFO was there or just after.
