Ancient Stonehenges Older Than Expected

ANCIENT STRUCTURES - IN WESTERN EUROPE ALONE, THERE ARE OVER 4,000 OF THEM. FROM SCANDINAVIA TO BRITAIN, FRANCE AND PORTUGAL, ANCIENT STONE STRUCTURES LIKE STONEHENGE ARE FOUND ALL OVER THE LANDSCAPE. SIMILAR STRUCTURES ARE ALSO FOUND ON OTHER CONTINENTS, LIKE NORTH AMERICA. MORE AND MORE ARE STILL BEING FOUND, AND THEY ALL REMAIN MYSTERIOUS.

Ancient stone structures vary in shape and size. Carnac for example, in Brittany, France is a forest of menhirs, spread over an area of some four kilometres. It is the largest site so far discovered in the world. In many sites, the large stones are set in circles. This seemed to have some special meaning to the builders. These ancient stone circles often have some special alignment with the sun, planets and stars and seem to have some astronomical function.
