We were both in awe at those two when we got the idea that we should grab our laser pointer to see if there could be any communication contact made. Once that was retrieved we noticed another starlike orb clipping along the night sky in the same general area but instead moving East to West (almost exactly). My boyfriend then flashed the laser pointer at it in quick but steady flashes. Instead of that orb responding one to the West about 40 degrees from the Western horizon did. The responding orb was unnoticed until it flashed and grew in apparent size that I could only relate to the size of a normal full moon, and at least doubled it's brightness. I personally saw more of the flash then my boyfriend but it would have lasted at least a couple of seconds from beginning to end. Once the brightness was over you could see the orb move away and disappear. At once, I had an intense feeling of excitement mixed with a feeling that we shouldn't be flashing them. I felt like we had done something unacceptable and was for a moment scared. Not sure if I felt that way because we got a response or because I fear government retaliation. After seeing that orb,another one appeared to be heading the opposite direction to the one we laser pointed, but roughly the same location in the sky. This one followed/crossed paths with a airplane that was coming from the south to North east at nearly the same time. We have been diligent in checking for satellites, iridium flares, ISS, meteor showers and even fireworks (Canada Day celebrations) and couldn't come up with our own answers to what happened. As always we have an intense sense of awe, wonder, confusion, and sometimes a little fear. We have accepted that at least half of what we see aren't anything we personally know of. But would love to know if anyone else saw anything last night.

Phase 2 awards are worth up to 500,000 and fund research and development activities for two years. They're granted to the most promising proposals that have previously received NIAC Phase 1 awards, which give research teams about 100,000 to conduct nine-month initial analysis studies.
All six of the newly announced Phase 2 projects - which were chosen via a peer-review process that prioritized technical feasibility, potential impact and innovation - are still in their early stages. Most are at least a decade away from possible use on a mission, NASA officials said.
"Early study and continued development are critical to guiding our technology investments," Jay Falker, NASA's NIAC program executive in Washington, said in a statement. "Some of the Phase 2 studies that started last year are already attracting the attention of other NASA programs, as well as potential external partners."
The six selected concepts, along with their principal investigators, are:

He then turned off the Route 52 exit near Stormville, NY, and began traveling north. The time now was close to eleven p.m. and the roads were quite desolate. He came to a clearing where there was a large field and noticed a large dark mass sitting about 200 yards from the road. At first he thought that it was a new home, but then he realized there couldn't be a house there since he had gone this way just the night before and the field was empty. As a matter of fact, Bill always drove this way home and there never was a structure there.
Bill slowed down his car to get a better look. "This thing was huge and dark," he noticed. The strange thing was it was almost the same shape as a big barn, but it seemed more tapered toward the sides and very smooth. As he watched, the dark object rose into the air without a sound. This really upset Bill since his was the only car on the road. The object then rose higher and higher, and all Bill could see was the dark mass slowly rising into the air. It was now about twice as high as the trees and was moving slowly toward Bill who was still in the car. Bill's radio then started to sound "funny" like the music on the radio was coming out of a tape player that had very weak batteries. The voices and the music sounded out of tune.
Bill then put his car into gear and sped away from the object. His heart was racing as he drove up the road at over fifty miles an hour. Bill then lost sight of the object and continued to drive at a slower rate of speed. After several minutes he noticed the glow up ahead just over a hill. As he approached the crest of the hill the object was waiting there! It was about 300 feet above the trees and was all lit up with rows of white and yellow lights. Bill then stopped his car and turned off his engine and lights. He was hoping that whoever was in the thing would not see him. The object then turned off its lights and he could see this huge dark mass slowly drifting toward him. When the object passed directly over his car, he could see its shape was triangular. Bill told me, "I don't want to make light of this, but the ship looked like one of the star destroyers from the movie Star Wars. The underside was the same shape,although I did not see the top."
As the object passed over Bill, he looked up and saw several circular areas underneath the UFO which seemed to be like tunnels leading into the object. Inside these circular tunnels there was a white light flashing, similar to the flashing of a strobe. This is big! I've come across an interesting bit of secret U. S. Air Force code while working on my book about Dr. J. Allen Hynek. At first I wasn't sure if I should share it here in the blog, knowing how sensitive it might be. National security and all that. But upon further reflection, I decided to take a stand. The public deserves to know.
What have I got? Well, back in August, 1953, while Hynek was working as a consultant on the Air Force's UFO study, Project Blue Book, a big case came in. In one night, over the course of three hours, as many as eight separate unidentified flying objects were sighted and tracked in the sky over Rapid City, South Dakota and Bismarck, North Dakota, some 220 miles to the northeast. Two things made the sightings remarkable: 1) every last one of the witnesses was a skilled, trained observer; and 2) the objects were picked up simultaneously by ground observers, radar operators and, in South Dakota, by Air Force pilots.
The first sighting was made by a volunteer sky watcher with the U. S. Air Force Ground Observer Corps (GOC) in Blackhawk, SD, just a few miles from Rapid City. Crazy as it seems, back in '53 the United States had not yet gotten our early warning radar system up and running; all we had was a bunch of kids, housewives and retirees with binoculars scanning the skies for any sign of incoming Russkie bombers. They actually strapped these people to the radar dishes.
So this woman spots a bogie through her binocs, calls it in to the GOC Filter Center in Rapid City, they in turn call it in to the control tower at nearby Ellsworth Air Force Base, and for a for a few hours everybody goes crazy watching a series of red, white and green lights flit around the sky and behave "erratically." Two Air Force jets are vectored to intercept the lights, only they can never catch up with them, which spooks the pilots something bad. One of the lights zooms up to Bismarck where the whole thing starts up all over again.

The case is investigated thoroughly by both the Blue Book CO, Captain Edward Ruppelt, and Dr. Hynek. And it's a really big deal because it's Hynek's first actual field investigation, see? So both men interview witnesses and file very long reports... and it's while I'm reading these reports some 60 years after they were written, that I detect the secret code...
Both Hynek and Ruppelt pepper their reports with the words "excitable" and "excited," and as I see these words over and over and over again in the reports it hits me that they mean something more than just "excitable" and "excited.
They're secret Air Force code for: "UNRELIABLE"!"

* In Captain Ruppelt's original report, he stated that although he did not visit Bismarck, he felt that in as much as they had been alerted to watch out for something, they became excited and 'saw lights.'

UFO SIGHTING IN WEST FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA ON AUGUST 7TH 2013 - TWO STATIONARY LIGHTS BLINKING AT EACH OTHER, HOVERED LONG TIME
When I stepped onto my patio for a cigarette I looked starward as usual and immediately noticed two unusual white lights. They were star-sized, and it was impossible to tell how far away or how far up they might have been. They were just inches apart by my view. The one on the right one would flash a round white light, then the left one would flash a round white light, the right one would flash, the left one would flash, over and over, but they never moved, they just hovered. I finished my cigarette and tried to take a video (unsuccessful), then watched for several more minutes before going inside. It was then about 10:40 p.m. About an hour later I went back outside to check on the lights and found that the one on the right was still hovering in the same place and still blinking as if in response to the one that had been on the left, except the light on the left had vanished. Man I wish I'd been there to see it take off! There's nothing tall around; the only thing behind my apartment complex is a cornfield, but I went out the next day to make sure there aren't any tall structures around that might have blinking lights on top. Just as I'd thought, there aren't. There's just one more row of apartments and then farmland for a ways.
