Bill, as we shall refer to him, is a thirty-two year old computer programmer for a major scientific-engineering corporation that helped design the major components for the new NASA Hubble space telescope. On July 19, 1984, at about 10:30 p.m. Bill left work and headed west on Highway I-84. As he approached the Taconic Parkway ramp in Dutchess County, NY he noticed a very bright, almost circular, object off to the north. The object seemed to be just sitting there in the sky. Its lights were a very bright white. As Bill watched the object, it began to move and it was at that time he noticed a dark mass behind it which blocked out the brighter, light polluted, night sky. He continued to drive on 84 and soon lost sight of the object. He tried to brush the entire incident out of his mind thinking, "Oh it must have been those guys from Stormville flying those planes and trying to fake a UFO." Bill then drove on listening to his radio.

He then turned off the Route 52 exit near Stormville, NY, and began traveling north. The time now was close to eleven p.m. and the roads were quite desolate. He came to a clearing where there was a large field and noticed a large dark mass sitting about 200 yards from the road. At first he thought that it was a new home, but then he realized there couldn't be a house there since he had gone this way just the night before and the field was empty. As a matter of fact, Bill always drove this way home and there never was a structure there.

Bill slowed down his car to get a better look. "This thing was huge and dark," he noticed. The strange thing was it was almost the same shape as a big barn, but it seemed more tapered toward the sides and very smooth. As he watched, the dark object rose into the air without a sound. This really upset Bill since his was the only car on the road. The object then rose higher and higher, and all Bill could see was the dark mass slowly rising into the air. It was now about twice as high as the trees and was moving slowly toward Bill who was still in the car. Bill's radio then started to sound "funny" like the music on the radio was coming out of a tape player that had very weak batteries. The voices and the music sounded out of tune.

Bill then put his car into gear and sped away from the object. His heart was racing as he drove up the road at over fifty miles an hour. Bill then lost sight of the object and continued to drive at a slower rate of speed. After several minutes he noticed the glow up ahead just over a hill. As he approached the crest of the hill the object was waiting there! It was about 300 feet above the trees and was all lit up with rows of white and yellow lights. Bill then stopped his car and turned off his engine and lights. He was hoping that whoever was in the thing would not see him. The object then turned off its lights and he could see this huge dark mass slowly drifting toward him. When the object passed directly over his car, he could see its shape was triangular. Bill told me, "I don't want to make light of this, but the ship looked like one of the star destroyers from the movie Star Wars. The underside was the same shape,although I did not see the top."

As the object passed over Bill, he looked up and saw several circular areas underneath the UFO which seemed to be like tunnels leading into the object. Inside these circular tunnels there was a white light flashing, similar to the flashing of a strobe. (Previously, we have had several reports of this same type of white flashing effect from other CE cases in the Hudson Valley.) The circular areas have also been reported numerous times before. Bill told me there was no sound. He estimated its size to be at least 300 feet from end to end.

Then something strange took place. The last thing Bill remembers is watching it go over his car, as he did not see it leave. The next thing he knew he was at the bottom of the hill 600 feet from where he was when the UFO first passed over his parked auto. The object itself was gone. He was not positive what time it was when he saw the object overhead, but he feels it was most likely about 11:30 p.m. The time was 12:15 a.m. when Bill started his drive home upset and with a very stiff neck.

When he arrived home he told his wife about his sighting. She was worried to begin with since he was almost an hour late. Later, Bill woke up in the middle of the night screaming, "Get away from me! -- Get away from me!" His wife said that the nightmares continued at least twice a week. Bill told me that he was not sure of what the nightmare was all about, but he knew something was after him. As time went on Bill was afraid to drive alone at night. He even had to insist that his boss not put him on the evening or night shift at his job.

Finally, Bill wanted to find outmore since the experience of the UFO and the fearful dreams tormented him. It wasn't until 1987 that Bill contacted me and told me his story. Bill had seen Budd Hopkins on a number of talk shows and asked me if it would be possible for him to be hypnotized. Hearing Budd speak about abductions on TV made him fearful and he wanted to make sure that this had not happened to him. I arranged to have Bill meet with a certified psychologist whom I occasionally used to perform hypnosis. The following is a brief transcript of Bill's encounter under hypnosis. He first told of seeing the object on I-84, then in the field, and then in the sky over the hill. At this point his voice becomes filled with fear and emotion.

Bill: "I see it now. It's that thing! Its coming in my direction! I'm going to turn off my car lights, maybe they won't see me and go away. Its huge... Oh my God what is it? There is someone standing in the road and he's walking toward the car. Who are you? He's saying something to me 'Don't be fearful we need you... you have been selected.' Selected for what? Get away! I feel strange like I'm floating in the air. Its all dark. I am now on this table and these guys are all around me. There are six of them. Two are at my head and two on the sides (two on each side). My legs and arms are like dead weights -- I can't move them."

Bill is then asked to describe the beings in greater detail. "These guys are small. They have large heads with round eyes. The eyes are all black. I can see no pupils in them, they remind me of sharks eyes. They are dressed in some type of black and white skin type suits. I can't see their hands. The one at my head is moving some type of device that looks like a portable car vacuum cleaner up and down the left side of my head. It vibrates my entire head, it feels like a drill going through my head... STOP! It hurts.... He tells me that they are looking for something and havefound it.

"I now can feel my legs and arms, and they are allowing me to get up. They are very small only up to the bottom part of my chest (Bill is six foot one inch tall). The others are now over some type of panel. Two of them are leading me by the arms. I asked them where they are from. The one on my right says, "We are from here." I didn't understand the answer. I asked him if they planned to let me go to which he replies, "Yes, but we will see you again." He told me that they need us because they have trouble living in our world. He said they come from a place which is very ugly when compared to our world and they would rather live here, but can't. I told him that I would remember and tell every one about this. He said I would remember in time but there are forces which will stop you from telling anyone about this experience.

Bill then found himself back in his car. Bill now recalls every aspect of the experience, which to him is very real.

OBJECT WAS SEEN PHOTOGRAPHED. 2 PHOTOS WERE TAKEN, BUT 1 HAS BEEN LOST.DESCRIPTION: Thank you for the opportunity to tell my story. Basically, on April 15, 2004, I was home recovering from a badly broken arm. I was watching TV, like any normal day. It was approximately 3:30 in the afternoon. The weather was great, calm and it was a bright sunny day with very few clouds. Suddenly my house seems to start shaking and I got alarmed as to what may be causing it. The room I was in felt electrically charged. I felt a tingling all over and this got more intense. When I stood up the feeling was even more intense and I felt like I was becoming paralyzed and having trouble breathing. I did not feel that this was something inside me, but around me that had a great deal of force. This went on for what felt like minutes from beginning to end. All of a sudden the force seemed to leave. I fell back onto the couch, very shaken up and it was a little bit before I could get my composure back. Unknown to me at the time, but I later found out that at the same time, my neighbor was getting ready for his yearly trip to Darlington Motor Speedway. It was also 3:30 PM. He is an avid photographer and likes to take pictures of the cars during the races. He had a zoom lens with high speed film to capture the action. His camera was not digital. He saw an object coming across the sky from the direction of the hydro dam which is only one mile from our houses. The object was moving to the south and he was facing north, so he was able to get 2 shots as it came around and flew over my house before it shot off to the southwest at a high rate of speed. He really did not know what the object was because of the speed it was traveling. When he got the film developed, he was shocked to see that he had gotten such good pictures. He thought he would have good pictures, but not this good. It cleared any doubt in his mind of what he had seen. As soon as he got the film developed he showed me the pictures and we put two and two together about what had happened at my house. My neighbor has since only been able to come up with one of the pictures. Hopefully at some point he will be able to find the other, but this one speaks for itself. I have lived in SC my whole life and served in the Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Lexington during the Vietnam Era, but I have never heard anything about something like this. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SENT BY WITNESS: I am very pleased with your response. I know the picture to be authentic as it is what happened to me. I spoke with my neighbor. The camera specifications are: Minolta X-3A, SLR model, 65300 zoom lens, using 400 speed film. He said hopefully he will be able to find the additional photo. Since we are at this point, I would appreciate being able to speak by phone. I am not the best at email. WITNESS CLARIFICATION OF DATE: I do believe you may be right about the date. Mr. Hollis and I have discussed this many times, but have gone on memory, not ever trying to researched the race date. So according to your information, this sighting would have to have taken place on that Friday March 19, 2004. Mr. H. would have been at the race that weekend and he did not get the pictures developed right away, so some time had passed. As I said last night, Mr. H. is looking for the other picture and the negatives. Hopefully this will actually happen. He has a lot of stuff. He could have put them anywhere for safe keeping. Would really prefer if you could give me a call. Anytime is OK. NOTE: A Google search revealed that the first race at the Darlington Speedway in 2004 was on Sunday, March 21, 2004. Another race occurred in November of 2004. I suspect that the date of the photo may have been on March 15, 2004 rather than April 15, 2004. We are attempting to confirm the date. We received prints of the photo which was not taken with a digital camera, but was taken with a quality camera with a telephoto lens and high speed film. The photo was scanned at 200 DPI color. If this photo in authentic, it is of a classic flying saucer. It is important to note that the object was seen by the photographer and not later found in the photo. In addition it should be noted that strange effects occurred within a mile of where the photo was taken at the time of the photo. I have also learned that retired Naval optical physicist Dr Bruce Maccabee is analyzing this photo. His analysis has not yet been completed. UPDATE - NOVEMBER 19, 2013: Given the witness response above regarding the date I have changed the date of the sighting to March 19, 2004. A check of weather conditions confirms that skies were mostly clear on that day. It should be noted that the trees and power-lines are out-of-focus. This means that the photographer was panning to keep the object in view. The object was flying towards him. Also I have learned that the photographer doesn't even own a computer and is not a computer guru. I know that debunkers will conclude that the photo had to have been "Photo-Chopped," but I don't believe that happened given the background of the photographer.

I was drifting south in I-270 dense I-44 in Kirkwood such as I noticed a very clean up star very indolently carrying in the sky, apparently south of I-44 but paralleling eastbound. I exchanged to I-44 east and traveled about a mile suddenly by hills obscuring my vision south were the clean up "star" was.

Seeing that I got to a town I didn't see the star but saw an incongruent triangle of lights, two crack and one ashen, all undisputable and not star-studded. I came to option set of small hills obscuring public lights and looked for the lights someplace I established them to be in the moment town. I didn't see them but leaned fore and looked up, and settle as of to involve the highway was a indeed rhombus triangle of ashen lights among a red light in the center. All the lights were undisputable but likewise flashed, the ashen lights one by one in a counter-clockwise edict.

After it voted for the highway departure south to north, my acceptable to moved out, one by one it turned off two of its ashen lights and so its center red light, but turned on a small red light moment to the persistent reputation ashen light such as the center red light went out. After it flew alike that for a level, it turned public lights lay a wager on in in the past put on the right track of how they heavy off. It finally foster two thin scarce ashen lights as it flew off now the store and I lost sight of it.

DOANE PROF UNEARTHS `COSMIC WATERGATE' IN SEARCH FOR UFO DATA.

Crete, Ne. - A lecture on the possibiltiy of life on Mars changed the
life of Jim Falvo, assistant professor of communications at Doane
College.

After attending a lecture six years ago in which Omahan Harry Jordan
discussed unusual surface features on Mars, Falvo became curious not
only about possible life and artifacts on Mars, but also the secrecy
that seemed to cloak the issue.

A former journalist, Falvo was intrigued by the security measures at
the lecture and by charges that the U.S. government was withholding
information from the public.

He says he felt the implications of the story were enormous, and could
not understand why there wasn't more coverage by the mainstream media.
If the claims were true, it was the "discovery of the millenium."

That same year, Falvo moved to Minnesota to teach at St. Olaf College.
Spurred by what he called "a normal curiosity," he started travelling
in his spare time, first collecting data about Mars, then about UFOs.

He returned to Nebraska in 1990 to teach at Doane. In the past six
years, he said, he has spent "thousands of hours and thousands of
dollars" gathering data on UFOs and other unexplained phenomena.

Without actually going to Mars, Falvo believes no one can verify
whether life exists there. He refers to a possible government coverup
as a "Cosmic Watergate."

Falvo has taken it upon himself to collect and scrutinize whatever
information he can find, then make it available to others.

"I feel a social responsibility to get the word out," he said.

Much of that information, stacked in his office at Doane, provided
the basis for two sessions he taught there.

Falvo said his students - even those who were skeptics - left class
more open-minded about the possibility of extraterrestrial life.

Falvo has no personal experience with UFOs or unexplained phenomena,
and he hopes he never does.

"I have no desire to have an encounter. Some of this stuff is
frightening," he said.

In his research, Flavo attempts to disprove accounts by finding holes
in them.

"I'm hoping that somebody comes up to me and says, `This is a pile of
garbage, and here's why.' But no one's done that," he said. "It's
refreshing that it's getting the exposure it deserves. It's a
legitimate area of scientific inquiry."

Falvo has videotaped people who claim to have had personal encounters
with UFOs or unexplained phenomena, including three Doane students
who, on seperate occasions, said they sighted UFOs while driving
between Lincoln and Crete. Sightings of lights above Lincoln in late
January also aroused Falvo's interest. He said the descriptions of
what was seen by Lincoln police officers and others have similarities
to what people have described in other incidents.

Falvo urges those interested in learning more about unexplained
phenomena to approach the subject with some skepticism and to avoid
the fringe issues, such as abductions and arranged contacts with
aliens.

There are many concrete case studies available, he said, and research
can be done at public libraries as well. Workshops and conferences
provide an opportunity to meet with experts in the field.

"Exploring the UFO Mystery" a conference exploring unexplained
phenomena, is scheduled April 22-24 at the Nebraska Center for
Continuing Education, 33rd and Holdrege streets.
